Wexford County’s WW1 Heroes  

Wexford County Veteran Services is working on a special project to honor our World War I Veterans on the Memorial Wall at the Wexford County Courthouse, and we need YOUR help!

We are currently looking for information, photos, or military records related to the following WWI Veterans:

🔹 George P. Sommerfeldt
🔹 Daniel Tunney
🔹 Arthur Paulson
🔹 Leon McNamara
🔹 Clyde J. Downer
🔹 Francis Xavier Leynanna

We’re also seeking the names of any other WWI Veterans from Wexford County who should be recognized and remembered.

Wexford County Department of Veteran Services

Mission Statement

The mission of the Wexford County Veteran Services Office is to assist Veterans and their families in securing all the benefits they have earned through service.

Wexford County Veterans Emergency Fund (WCVEF)

We offer a millage-based fund designated to temporarily help eligible Wexford County Veterans and Dependents. WCVEF is intended to provide assistance to indigent Veterans and their dependents. Call or stop by our office to see if you are eligible.

Michigan Veterans Trust Fund (MVTF)

The State of Michigan offers emergency funding to assist eligible applicants during an emergent need hardship. “Emergent need” is defined to mean an unforeseen circumstance causing a temporary financial emergency or hardship that a grant will resolve. Call or stop by our office to see if you are eligible.
