Motion to Claim Remaining Proceeds from Tax Foreclosure Sale on or After July 18, 2020

** All claims of interest in foreclosure sales prior to Dec. 22,2020 must be turned into the Wexford County Treasurer by March 31, 2025. 

*Claims of interest in foreclosure sale proceeds for the 2022 tax year must be turned into the Wexford County Treasurer between April 1st and July 1st, 2025.

The office of the County Treasurer was established by the Michigan State Constitution and the functions of this office are dictated by State Statutes, under the guidance of the Bureau of Local Government Services Audit Division and the State Treasury Department.

The Wexford County Treasurer is custodian of all County money. 

With responsibility for:

Investing funds and maintaining an adequate cash flow

Settlement with Township/City Treasurers for taxes collected for the County and State

Collecting delinquent real property taxes

Maintaining debt service accounts for bonded indebtedness of the County

Certifying warranty deeds

Sale of dog licenses

In addition to these duties, the Wexford County Treasurers office handles the entire PA 123 tax reversion process, including forfeiture, tax searches, foreclosure and sale of properties.
