Mr. Elmore’s family has called Wexford County home for 5 generations. He graduated from Cadillac High School. He then graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Hope College with Cum Laude Honors, where he also ran cross country and track. He then graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he clerked with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, US Army JAG Corps, Public Interest Law Initiative, and Chicago-Kent Law Clinic. Upon joining the Illinois State Bar, Jason joined the U.S. Army JAG Corps and served on active duty as a prosecutor, instructor, defense counsel, and magistrate. He then returned to Wexford County and joined the Michigan State Bar. He has served and still serves in the US Army Reserves as a defense attorney, appellate attorney, and is currently a lieutenant colonel serving as a military judge. He has deployed to the Middle East and is Airborne and Air Assault qualified. Prior to becoming the Wexford County Prosecutor in January 2017, Mr. Elmore was a partner with the law firm McCurdy, Wotila, & Porteous, PC practicing criminal defense, general litigation, and family law. Mr. Elmore is serving or has served on the board of directors for the Cadillac Area YMCA, Stehower Free Health Clinic, Cadillac Footliters, Silent Observer, Wexford/Missaukee Community Corrections Advisory Board, Family Violence Issue Committee, Wexford/Missaukee Human Services Leadership Collaborative, and more. He is also a member of the Cadillac Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Elmore is married and has three children.
